Since its founding in 2010, Destiny International School has grown from a small homeschooling centre into a registered international school in Muar. Guided by a strong vision and values, we continue to provide quality education that prepares students for lifelong success.
12 Years of Destiny
The Journey from Destiny Academy to Destiny International School (2010–2022)
Destiny International School began as a humble vision; one rooted in faith, passion,and a desire to provide quality education to the next generation. Started as a small homeschooling centre in 2010 with just 35 children, it has grown into a fully registered international school in the heart of Muar.
2010–2012: Humble Beginnings
Destiny Academy was founded with the mission to offer quality English education with a focus on Godly values. Founded as the first English curriculum learning centre in Muar, Johor that ran an American curriculum. The academy was founded to provide affordable international education for families looking for an alternative education pathway in an increasing global world.
2013: The First Leap of Faith
Our first international school application was submitted to the Ministry of Education (MOE), unaware that it would take 9 years to become a fully registered international school. This marked the start of our unwavering pursuit of excellence and a determination for the fulfilment of our vision.
2014: First Graduation
A significant milestone where Destiny Academy held its first graduation ceremony for three students who completed Grade 12 under the American Alpha Omega Academy Program.
2015: Transitioning to British Curriculum
In preparation for international school status, Destiny adopted the British Cambridge curriculum and began preparing students for the prestigious Cambridge IGCSE examinations. This shift required immense dedication from our leadership and staff, who embraced the challenge to unlearn and relearn for the benefit of our learners.
2016–2019: Building a Strong Foundation
With guidance from experienced consultants, Destiny Academy refined its structure and systems towards its drive for international school status. Notably, Mr. Paul Halford and Dr. Denry Machin played pivotal roles in uplifting the academic quality and governance of the school. Annual school audits and teacher improvement plans were launched to enable Malaysian teachers to confidently deliver the Cambridge curriculum effectively.
2020–2021: Steady Progress
Despite global challenges, Destiny remained focused on delivering quality online education. Applications and efforts continued to secure full international school registration, and the school continued to grow in excellence despite the lockdown and online learning, with strong support from staff, parents, and the broader community.
2022: A Dream Realized
Twelve years since its humble beginning, Destiny Academy officially became Destiny International School. The Ministry of Education approved the license, and the school celebrated its official grand opening on 6th August 2022. It marked a new era for education in Muar, offering affordable international education with rigorous academics and strong values.
2025: A New Season of Growth
A new season of growth is unfolding at Destiny International School, as emerging leaders rise to the occasion and innovative programs take root. Together, we are cultivating a vibrant school culture grounded in excellence, character, and community.
